Dear Academy at Palumbo Families,

This letter is to inform you that today, Palumbo students will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. due to a broken sprinkler head that leaked water and compromised the building’s fire suppression system. The School District of Philadelphia’s Operations Department and the Philadelphia Fire Department, were onsite to assist and determined that an early dismissal was necessary. Students were split into two groups, which were then dismissed from CAPA High School for Creative and Performing Arts, 901 S. Broad St. if they needed to wait for a ride.

Students will be bringing home their Chromebooks so that they can login for instruction from home for the rest of the school day.

Our priority is to ensure safe and healthy school environments for our students and staff. This incident, although a disruption to our school community, was handled according to District policy and I would like to thank our students and staff for their cooperation. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

We will continue to update you about the status of the work and if it will impact in-person learning tomorrow. As of now we anticipate being in the building tomorrow, again if anything changes will notify you as soon as we are aware.

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact the school at 215-400-8130. Thank you for your continued support of the students at Palumbo.

Sincerely,

Kiana Thompson Principal
