Good Morning,

NEED HELP WITH FAFSA? The School District of Philadelphia will be hosting a FAFSA Pop Up in partnership with Promise Corps at School of the Future, 4021 Parkside Ave. on October 30, 4:30PM-6:30PM. This event is open to all School District of Philadelphia students and their families. FAFSA Completion labs staffed with trained coaches will be on site to help students complete FSA ID registration and the financial aid application. The event will host workshops, raffles with plenty of chances to win amazing prizes! Light refreshments will be served!

STEP INTO COLLEGE
“Greetings Parents! The School District of Philadelphia would like to invite you to attend Philadelphia’s Pre-College Conference, STEP INTO COLLEGE.

The Step into College conference is free, and open to all Philadelphia 8th grade and  high school students and families who would like to hear from current college professionals and experts about areas such as college and career planning, the college admission process, how to pay for college, and the college experience.  The event will take place on Saturday, March 9 at 9:00am.”

Black Student Fund
“Since 1964, the Black Student Fund (BSF) has provided financial assistance and support services to Washington, DC metropolitan area African-American students, grades pre-kindergarten to 12, and their families. BSF-assisted students stay in school, graduate high school with distinction and enter college. 70% of these students are from one-parent households. Many are the first generation to progress to higher education.

Established to racially desegregate the independent schools of the National Capital area, the Fund serves as an advocate for all black children and strives to assure that black students and their families have equal access to every educational opportunity.”

Experimental Video Art Festival
The 3rd iteration of the 12G Contemporary Video Art Festival celebrates contemporary video art—that is, contemporary art using recorded moving images, created by artists from or about the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. This 3rd edition of the juried show will be co-presented by Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival (PAAFF) during their 10 day festival. Subjects and themes for the exhibit include queer, controversial, poetic, abstract, political, philosophical, uncensored—anything that stretches beyond conventional. This year’s line-up includes twelve original experimental works selected from nineteen hundred submissions after detailed deliberations from our judges on the merits of art, filmmaking, experimentation, representation, opportunities, and aesthetics. 12GatesArts is forever grateful to the 12Gates team, judges, and PAAFF and to all the artists and filmmakers who submitted their work. Artist Sharlene Bamboat expected in attendance at the November 12 presentation.

ACCESS Card
Visit over thirty five local museums, science centers, gardens, historic sites and cultural attractions at a rate of $2 per person. Residents who “monitor their government issued cash, food, or medical benefits with an EBT card” are eligible to become an ACCESS Cardholder. One ACCESS card enables up to four family members attending at the discounted rate.

Students at Museums in Philly (STAMP) Pass
Open to all Philadelphia high school students, the STAMP pass offers free admission to Philly museums, attractions and special events. STAMP seeks to increase teen access to Philly’s vibrant art and culture scene.
