Acel Moore High School Journalism Workshop (deadline January 31)
For more than 30 years, Philadelphia Media Network has conducted a free high school journalism workshop that combines classroom instruction in reporting, writing, photography, and digital journalism with practical application. The workshop places a strong emphasis on participants acquiring the tools for multimedia storytelling. Using your smart phones, you will shoot, edit and embed videos in your stories, blog, chat online, and share the workshop experience in real time through social media postings. Taught by staff volunteers, the program culminates with the production of a student newspaper and a website. The workshop will begin on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, and will run through the three successive Saturdays at 801 Market St. Apply here.

Al Bustan Spring Percussion Classes
Al-Bustan is offering spring percussion classes for adults and youth ages 12+. The classes are taught by Hafez Kotain on Tuesday nights at The Rotunda.
Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture is dedicated to presenting and teaching Arab culture through the arts and language. “Al-Bustan,” Arabic for “The Garden,” offers structured exposure to the language, art, music, dance, literature, and natural environment of the Arab world. Al-Bustan promotes cross-cultural understanding among youth and adults of all ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds through artistic and educational programs.
Monday Cooking at South Philadelphia Library (every Monday, 4:00-6:00PM)
Learn about plant-based cooking through this hands-on community experience led by Chef Char Nolan, with exciting new recipes every week!
Bank of America Student Leaders Program (deadline February 2)
High school juniors and seniors are eligible for this paid summer leadership internship that partners with local nonprofits. Participants also attend a leadership summit in Washington, DC. Find full eligibility criteria and application form here.
Summer College Opportunity Program in Education (deadline February 2)
High school sophomores interested in the field of Education are eligible to apply for a free four-week summer program that prepares students for college life. Participants will take prep courses while living on a college campus. Preference is given to first generation, low-income and minority students.
Jr. Music Exec Internship (deadline February 15)
For students passionate about music, this internship is a 10-week program that engages students with the music industry while developing skills for entering a career in music.
Let’s Get Ready
Let’s Get Ready seeks to improve college accessibility to low-income students. Enroll now for a free 9-week program beginning February that provides SAT tutoring, college counseling, and mentoring from college student volunteers.
