We’re incredibly proud to highlight some recent work from students in Mr. Charlie McGeehan’s class, who have been busy making their voices heard on important issues in our community.

This summer, Aster, Frank, and Mr. McGeehan had the chance to collaborate on a blog post for Generation Citizen. We wrote about the amazing work our class did last year, focusing on how we used our voices to bring about change. It was a fantastic experience to share our story on a wider platform. You can read our post here: Our Voices, Our Parks: A Conversation on Youth-Led Change in Philly.

Additionally, we want to give a special shout-out to Aster and Joey, who were recently featured in an article by Chalkbeat Philadelphia. The article discusses the impact of SEPTA cuts on students, and Aster and Joey’s perspectives were included alongside the voices of teachers and other students from across the city. This is a powerful example of how student voices can contribute to important conversations. Read the full Chalkbeat article here: SEPTA cuts on first day of school hit students.

It’s inspiring to see our classmates stepping up and using their experiences to advocate for change. We look forward to seeing more of their great work in the future!
