The Keystone Exams (Algebra I, Literature, and Biology) are key, end-of-course tests required by Pennsylvania to measure student proficiency and fulfill high school graduation requirements. Students typically take the exam in the Spring (May) upon completing the related course, and retake opportunities are available in Winter (January) and Spring. While the tests are not timed, your child must finish each of the two modules per exam on the same day. Students must take the test in person at school. A critical reminder: Unapproved electronic devices (like cell phones, smartwatches, or tablets) are strictly forbidden in the testing room. If a student is found with one, the device will be confiscated, the student’s test will not be scored, and they will be required to retake the entire exam. After testing is complete, scores are used by teachers to personalize instruction , and you can view results in the Parent Portal or request a paper copy from the school.
