The Boys Basketball Team did a great job at the annual day of service at Philabundance. 14/15 players, 4/5 managers and all three coaches reported on time at 8:15AM down at the Philabundance warehouse near the pro stadiums. Our project was to break down pallets of food to then organize and box up for senior citizens who are food insecure. We did 440 boxes (11 pallets full) within 2 and a half hours. We were done so fast and efficiently, they had no more work for us.
The boys, as always, represented Palumbo pride well – there were about 10 additional volunteers there, including a few senior citizens. Many there asked what school we attended, and positive remarks were made several times about the boys including “what dedication! what good young men! what other high school kids were up at 7AM the day after Christmas for something like this?”
The President of Philabundance was there and came out to personally commend the boys for their efforts and give them snacks at the conclusion of our shift.
